Dell might have a great baby here in the new Dell Adamo, which is finally going to be available after a long wait for many enthusiasts. This new notebook really looks very well and the design is pretty impressive when we stay and look in the past at previous Dell gadgets. We are talking about a new brand by the company, one that wants to be really attractive in terms of designs. According to the manufacturer, the entire Adamo line is created in order to draw people into personal computing. DCR-PC1000 to Be Sony's First Compact 16:9 Consumer Camcorder

I4U News reported that Sony has announced a 16:9 consumer camcorder to be released in the Spring of 2005. The DCR-PC1000 is Sony's first consumer camcorder to include a three chip CMOS sensor. It will record images in a 16:9 format, but this should not be confused with HDTV.

Apparently, Sony gave the DCR-PC1000 the ability to record images with 480 lines of resolution in a wide format. At best, the output will be as clear as a conventional DVD. I have no doubt that some people will look at the DCR-PC1000's feature list, see a 16:9 capability, and assume that this is a compact HD camcorder.

Since I started looking at DV cameras again, I've noticed that prices have fallen precipitously, but there are very few models available that support 720 or 1080 lines of resolution (required to be considered HD-compatible). It seems like the camcorder manufacturers are intent upon pushing one more generation of non-HD units through the channel. If you want real HD-compatibility, make sure you know that the camcorder you buy supports it and make sure your editing tools will work with HD output.

So Polaroid gets out of the instant pic biz and goes kid photo friendly, WTF? The Pixie cameras capture 3-megapixel photos (there’s also a video camera line), sport a 2.4″LCD, has a fixed focus lens and include games played via a directional pad and ‘a’ ‘b’ buttons.

Notably, there’s also two viewfinders; probably for kids that can’t manage ‘depth of field’ using one eye.

Canon Intros Retro Portable Printers: Selphy ES3 and ES30

Although both of Canon’s latest printers are almost identical, the ES3 takes the big brother label by sporting 1gig of on board memory for storing photos, additional clip art and photo frames and a larger LCD.

They both feature a 15-in-1 memory card reader, a 3.5-inch LCD for previewing photos (3.0-inches for the ES30), are PictBridge compatible (this allows you to connect a camera and print from it), and use Canon ink and paper cartridges.

I guess they’re available now (Amazon has them) and will go for $200 for the ES3, and $150 for the ES30. I don’t see the appeal, but they do look oh so Euro. Plus the cartridges probably cost an arm and a leg.

3rd Generation Zune Pricing, Date, and Info Relinquished

Not sure if anyone really cares about this, but Microsoft made the rumored Zune updates official today. Come September 16th we should expect a 120GB hard drive model and a 16GB flash based one. Zune users can also expect a software update that will allow them to download music via WiFi along with Zune channels from ‘experts’ and music recommendations based on listening history. A welcomed ‘commuter add-on’ will be the addition of Hexic and Texas Hold ‘em games and Audible Book compatibility.

The 120GB Zune will cost $249 while the 16GB and 8GB flash based devices will be $199 and $149 respectively.

You’ll have to pardon my lack of excitement, but when I read that a consumer electronics manufacture is stepping out of its core operation, clothing accessories in this case, it tends to disturb my delicate sensibilities.

The Sony Ericsson MBW-200 watch, a female iteration of the men’s MBW-150, connects to Sony Ericsson phones via Bluetooth and displays caller idea and track information on the mini OLED screen. Additionally, wearers can control the phone’s MP3 player.

Games can be downloaded for 10 Euros a piece, and will be integrated with the Nokia Ovi service that was just launched. And, the Nokia N81 has a really trick UI going on. Microsoft has taken the opportunity to announce the SideWinder X6 keyboard at the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany, adding yet another member to the venerable SideWinder line of gaming peripherals from the software giant. It seems as though Microsoft Hardware laid low for quite some time, and the SideWinder name has not exactly lighted up the gaming world for some time already, so hopefully the X6’s debut will change all that. This is touted to be the most versatile gaming keyboard on the market thanks to the pioneering switchable key pad which can be attached to either the left or right side of the keyboard, catering for both left- and right-handers.

Considering that we are less than one year away from the big HDTV switch, it is not surprising that Sharp/AQUOS is prepared with the SE94 Series.

The SE94 series is designed with a “Cornerstone design” with detachable bottom speakers and a slimmer and lighter design. The SE94 also has terrific picture quality with 1080p resolution, as well as a Dynamic Contrast Ratio of 27,000:1. As for colors, the 10-bit ASV panel and 5-wavelength backlight system provides vibrant red and truer greens. In short, it is simply a better picture.

Here’s one more entrant in the already competitive netbook segment. Nothing out of ordinary here, just usual netbook specs. As expected, Tosh’s very first mini-laptop is based on Intel’s Atom processor (1.6GHz), and offers 1GB RAM, 120gig hard drive, and 8.9-inch widescreen display (1024 x 600 resolution).
As for connectivity, you get LAN, WiFi, 3 x USB and SD slot. The NB105 ships with Windows XP operating system, and will be available in Mexico in November. No word on pricing.

Casio today introduced the Exilim EX-FH20, its second high-speed digital camera, featuring 40 frame-per-second burst rate and the ability to shoot movies at 1000 frames per second, priced at $599.99. While the burst rate is lower than the company’s 60 fps EX-F1 released in March for $999 , several specs of the new camera are actually superior to its pricier predecessor, including a more powerful zoom lens (20x for the EX-FH20 versus 12x for the EX-F1) and higher resolution (maximum 9.1 megapixels for the new camera, and 7 megapixels in burst mode, versus a top resolution of 6 megapixels for the EX-F1).

The zoom lens is equivalent to 26-520mm in 35mm photography, with a maximum aperture of f/2.8 at the widest setting and f/4.5 at maximum telephoto. Sensor-shift image stabilization is provided to keep zoom shots steady.

High-speed movies can be taken at three different frame rate/resolution combinations: 480 x 360 at up to 210 fps, 224 x 168 at 420 fps, and 224 x 56 at 1000 fps. This is an area where the EX-FH20 significantly lags behind the EX-F1, which offers faster frame rates at higher resolutions. High-definition movie recording is also supported at 1280 x 720 pixels and 30fps, with mono sound, in Motion JPEG format, along with standard-resolution 640 x 480 recording.

The control system for the EX-FH20 has been streamlined, as has the camera body itself, measuring 27% smaller and 28% lighter than the EX-F1. The EX-FH20 measures 4.83 x 3.20 x 3.33 inches, and weighs approximately 17 ounces. It includes both a 3-inch LCD (230,000-pixel resolution) and an electronic viewfinder, and is powered for four AA batteries.
The EX-FH20 will be available, in basic black, starting in October.
